Marty Jackson and Saul Patu are the children of a respected Seattle Public Schools board member. Until 2024, the siblings held places of esteem in the community and places of trust inside Seattle Public Schools.

A year ago, things quickly unraveled as Jackson was arrested and charged for running an international drug and weapons ring out of her Renton residence, using her non-violence non-profit as a front for laundering criminal profits. The drugs pedaled by her org had recently left four dead in the Lummi Nation, and a 17-year-old Garfield student was shot to death on campus while Jackson’s org was entrusted with the safety of students instead of police.

Meanwhile, Saul Patu was running an illicit recruiting ring with former Seahawk Sam Adams at SPS’ Roosevelt High School. At least 18 players were plucked from area schools with promises of scholarships and other enticements.

One such benefit was “the kennel”, a classroom repurposed as a football-only social club where athletes could while away the day. Patu received $160,000 in payments from a sole-source contract awarded for running the Kennel.
