Saturday: “Best Egg Hunt in Washington” at North Cove Park
Prize-laden event is free for all kids from across the region
Shane McDaniel is apparently channeling Willy Wonka.
The community-minded owner of Norm’s Market (and friends) recently announced an over-the-top easter egg hunt with thousands of dollars in prizes, 12,000 eggs and an assortment of family friendly activities.
The “Best Egg Hunt in Washington” occurs Saturday, April 8 at North Cove Park in Lake Stevens.
The event begins at 11:00 am and all kids 12 months to 12 years old are invited to enjoy the party and search for prizes distributed among over 12,000 eggs.
“With over $2000 in cash and prizes we should have some very happy kids. Most of our grand prizes were chosen with the intention of getting our kids outside to play and enjoy our new parks,” McDaniel said.
Pop Up Skate Park Opened March 24
The City’s pop-up skate park on the corner of N Lakeshore Dr and Main St at North Cove Park, adjacent to The Mill opened Friday, March 24, 2023.
J425 stopped in on the popular Cavalero skate park last month. We popped by the pop-up last week and found it teeming with a knot of skaters who seemed to approve of the semi-permanent location across from the Lake Stevens Mini Mart
Free Community Cleanup Returns April 22
The free Community Cleanup Event returns Saturday, April 22, 9 am - 1 pm at Cavelero Mid-High School. This is a great annual opportunity to get rid of unneeded junk.

J425 Air 5 Prints Arrive

When J425 stupidly crashed its drone, we reached out to subscribers for donations to back a new drone. Our AIR 5 Club offered exclusive prints and a two year subscription to the first five supporters. We were overwhelmed by the support. After the fifth slot closed, we placed orders for five exclusive canvas prints with high-quality acrylic paint.
The finished products arrived last week, with brilliant colors over hand-stretched canvas boards. We’re wrapping up a few post-production issues and will post a video and schedule delivery this week.
Lake Stevens Food Bank Nears Completion
Built in order to deal with community needs that have doubled in less than a decade, the new Lake Stevens food bank building located on 20th across from Cavelero Mid High is nearing completion.
According to Lake Stevens Community Food Bank management, the new building is big enough to store and process incoming food that meets the needs of more than 3,000 clients a month comfortably.
Tim Kaintz led many generous donors, backing the project with a $100,000 donation in the name of the late Frank McDaniel.
