What to Watch: “Hope”
Today, consider the most-watched video on the planet yesterday, deconstructed by a filmmaker.
J425 Culture is our ongoing attempt to provide you with something relevant, of the moment and high-quality from the Pop Culture or the Arts. Our promise: we’re only sending you something worth your time. Even if it’s not of your taste, it will add something of value.
Today we return to NF, whose new video was the most watched Youtube content on Earth yesterday.
There’s something different about this man’s talent, whether it’s the narrative storytelling that progresses in a linear fashion through his catalog, the fact that in an age of drill rap, he’s never cursed, or the perspective he chooses (personifying emotions and psychological states).
We set some of this up with our previous Culture post looking at “Clouds”.
Personally we think that his content organically generates a worldwide following is encouraging.
So without further ado, J425 Culture recommends a good usage of eight minutes of your time: A cinematographer dissects NF’s “Hope” — the video for the lead single of the Michigan artist’s April 7 album.
