The first of several polls are out this week, and according to MaxPreps, the Lake Stevens Vikings are the top prep football team in the state, regardless of classification.
The Vikings (1-0) thumped 3A stalwarts O’Dea on the road at a rainy Seattle Memorial Stadium last Friday, kicking off a season that was delayed two weeks due to COVID precautions.
The Vikings opened the season ranked second in the AP 4A poll, behind Graham-Kapowsin. After watching from the sidelines for two weeks, the Vikes slipped to seventh in the AP Poll as other squads nailed down victories.
The Vikings face perennial 2A power Archbishop Murphy of Everett Friday at Lake Stevens Stadium in the Vikings’ home-opener.
