VIKINGS RAGE PAST BELLEVUE 34-31
Lake Stevens overturned a 28-7 halftime deficit behind five Kolton Matson touchdowns in instant classic at Bellevue Memorial
BREAKING — LAKE STEVENS 35-BELLEVUE 31. FINAL.
This is a developing story…more to follow.
BELLEVUE, WA - The Lake Stevens Vikings (2-0, ranked #1 in 4A) overturned a three touchdown halftime deficit with a rowdy second half performance that left the home crowd stunned and the Wolverines shook and winless.
Viking QB Kolton Matson (6’2 185 | 2025) led the way with four second half touchdowns, complimenting a Viking defense that held the Wolverines to just three points after the second quarter.
After ending the first half trailing 28-7 to a confident, talented Bellevue team riding off the energy supplied by a caffeinated home crowd; Head Coach Tom Tri delivered a direct and frank halftime speech that saw the reigning state champs blast back with a flurry of quick-strike touchdown drives, combo’d with three-and-out defensive stands.
After a six touchdown performance against Garfield last week, Matson rebounded from a slow start and pillaged the Bellevue defense for five total touchdowns while completing the 21-point road comeback.
QB Kolton Matson: 15 for 23, 286 yards, 4TD 2INT; 2 rush 17 yards, TD.
The Vikings had huge contributions from across the roster including WR David Brown’s second straight two touchdown night, House of Highlight-worthy catch-and-run scores from Paul Varela and Keagan Howard; and a gutsy performance from Jayshon Limar — capped off by a 67 yard catch and run. These were just a few of the memorable moments.
