LAKE STEVENS — Scary good. That's how impressive Lake looked in beating Olympia 54-0 last Saturday evening at Viking Stadium in the opening game of the State Football Playoffs.
Lake, playing its best football of the season so far, dominated in every aspect of the game, offense and defense, in rolling up the 54-point margin by halftime.
Viking quarterback Kolton Matson turned in his most impressive performance yet, connecting on 19 of 23 passes for 327 yards and five touchdowns, all in the first half (only Lake reserves saw action during the running-clock second half).

Matson spread the wealth around, completing passes to eight different receivers, including four to David Brown, for 92 yards and two touchdowns, bringing Brown's season total to 14 TD receptions.
On defense, Brown had two interceptions, one of them for a 51-yard TD return.
Lake scored 27 points in each of the first two quarters, eight touchdowns overall, as follows:
(1). Three straight Matson completions, the third a 48-yard TD to David Brown, who dove into the end zone to complete the play. Lucas Mooring's PAT kick was wide (he went 6 for 8 for the game).
