Viking Assistant Coach Kyle Bigham collapsed before the game tonight. Minutes before kickoff, Bigham sprinted off the field and to the sideline before collapsing near the bench.
He was unresponsive, and the coaching staff immediately began CPR while summoning the EMTs on scene. A doctor, a Seattle firefighter and an emergency room nurse emerged from the stands and began treatment while the ambulance took its damned time coming over.
CPR was performed for about 15 minutes, and at one point, the shock paddles were used on Bigham in an effort to revive him.
He was taken to Providence hospital.
UPDATE - Lake administrators report that Bigham is in fair condition and is responsive. Apparently, doctors at Providence do not feel he suffered a heart attack.
