Didn't get a chance to post last night, but I was able to swing by Tuesday's practice for about 20 minutes. I saw the Herald's Mike Cane on the sidelines as well...wonder what he's working on?
Anyway, here's an update to the injury situation based on what was going on at Tuesday's practice and some notes from the training staff.
- RB/CB Brennan Frost was on the field taking reps with the first team offense, although he was in half-pack (shoulder pads and basketball shorts) and was sporting a limp and a bulky knee brace. Word is that he suffered an MCL strain and is questionable for Friday's game.
- Despite news that he was able to run on his torn ACL, senior OT/DE Garek Stuart was in street clothes Wednesday, awaiting delivery of a special knee brace. Stuart says he will play, but I would still label him as questionable at this time.
- Senior captain/ILB Alex Moon was in street clothes and is awaiting an MRI on his injured knee. He is also doubtful for this week's game, and his season status is pending.
- It was confirmed that senior captain QB/S Chameron Lackey is finished for the season with a torn MCL. Lackey had a great Viking career and deserves a big hand on senior night.
Practice Notes -
The offense was working while I was onfield, and a couple new faces seemed to be getting reps. Senior Jaime Laurine - who pulled down two interceptions (one on a two point conversion attempt) last Friday was getting work in the WR rotation, as were sophomores Quincy Carroll and Colter Swords. Junior Cody Riecks - brother of Viking great Trevor - is also likely to enter the WR fray as the Vikes look to replace two starters (Lackey and Arvid Isaksen). Sophomore Christian Gasca was sick and not at practice.
That's really all I was able to gather as other obligations forced me to leave before the team workout period was over. We'll have more from LSHS today with updates on the injury situation and positional battles.
All for now.
