The guy behind the anti-incumbent yard signs says the mayor & a Proud Boy are smearing him online
Earl Gray intends to file a police report with evidence that he says links Mayor Brett Gailey to a "fake page" that obscenely satirizes Gray and his views
A foul-mouthed “fake page” that obscenely satirizes Lake Stevens resident Earl Gray is the latest in a string of bizarre incidents involving yard signs, Gray, the City of Lake Stevens and the city’s mayor.
- A year ago, a man tried to rip Gray’s ear off in an altercation over yard signs.
- Last month, the mayor ordered an inquiry that led to the removal of numerous anti-incumbent/anti-developer yard signs funded by Gray.
- And now, Gray says a Proud Boy and the Mayor are behind a “fake” Facebook page that appropriates Gray’s name and image in an attempt to attack him for his political speech.
Yesterday, we reported that community organizer Earl Gray said he had evidence connecting Lake Stevens Mayor Brett Gailey to an online smear job targeting him. Gray posted the accusation on a popular community page dedicated to Lake Stevens issues, claiming that he had been targeted because “they are afraid of the truth I tell”.
“They made a fake page for me (Earl Gray’s Progressive Action Committee) and post really sick stuff there. They try and quote it as me,” Gray wrote.
The “they” in question, according to Gray, include “a Proud Boy” and “Mayor Brett Gailey.”
“The page is run by a Proud Boy and though I was hesitant to bring it up during an election, there is no need to hold back now. I have been given some evidence also connecting it to Mayor Brett Gailey,” Gray wrote, concluding his post with the hashtags #DesperateMoves, #Despicable, #TruthHurts and #SMH (shaking my head).
The Journal 425 heard from both Gray and Mayor Gailey regarding this issue.
