Soccer: Viking Girls Emerging as a Legit Contender to Retain 🏆 After 5-1 Home Win
A win at Kamiak next week would sew up an undefeated league campaign & send the 4A title holders into the postseason with momentum.
After so many three goal games, a guy just runs out of hat metaphors, and therefore, I just have to lay it on you straight: Junior striker NOE TUPUA had three goals again Thursday and Senior attacking midfielder KEIRA ISABELLE TUPUA added two more as the Viks dispatched Stanwood 5-1 in front of an energetic home crowd.
Thursday’s win followed a 6-0 road win Tuesday at Mariner, in which All State forward Noe Tupua made her season debut, putting three past the Marauder goalkeeper. Junior defender AVA PEARSON added two and Junior midfielder OLIVIA LO chipped in as well.
Viking head coach SAM FORD, now amidst the select group of coaches who can call themselves state title winners, is embracing the challenge of defending a title, after so many years as a perceived underdog.
Last year’s title winning team was seeded 8th heading into the state tournament.
Despite losing 3/4ths of his starting back line, captain Charli Pugmire, midfielders Olivia Fast and Audrey McKenna and more, Ford retooled and is working in two freshman starters in the back four.

Anchored by All State goalkeeper Tessa Anastasi at the back and the prolific Tupua sisters (and dynamic forward Shelby Clifton) leading the attack, the Viks look the part of a November contender.
No need to empty out that trophy cabinet just yet.
Lake Stevens is in action next Tuesday at Kamiak, 7:30 pm start. A league title is attainable with a win.
