
LAKE STEVENS — If it seemed a little early in the season for a league game, Lake Stevens had no problem rising to the occasion, opening the Wesco slate with a thorough 2-0 shutout of Jackson (2-1, 0-1) Thursday evening at Lake Stevens Stadium.
Sophomore forward Noelani Tupua pocketed both goals for the victorious Vikings, claiming the brace just 48 hours after completing a hat trick against the Snohomish Panthers in Tuesday’s home opener, which saw Lake shutout the Panthers 6-0.
On Tuesday, Tupua had the aforementioned three goals, Olivia Fast knocked in two more and Audrey McKenna had one as well. Junior goalkeeper Tessa Anastasi minded the nets and claimed the shutout in both wins.
The Vikings looked sound in the back and dominant in possession both contests. Running a 4-4-2 diamond with the Tupua sisters up top, senior captain and center midfielder Charli Pugmire controlled all traffic
