We're not into revisionist history here at Purple and Gold Pigskin (I reserve the right to edit this statement at a later date), so let's take a look at how I fared with the Week 1 predictions:
Glacier Peak @ Arlington
Prediction: Arlington 31 GP 17
Actual: Arlington 37 Glacier Peak 7
Notes: I'm not so sure why the Herald was so in love with GP, but a team of Seniors at home is gonna beat a startup team of juniors nine times out of ten. Arlington Junior QB Jake Parduhn looks to be a real impact player.
Edmonds Woodway @ Meadowdale
Prediction: E-W 24 Meadowdale 10
Actual: Meadowdale 28 E-W 27
Notes: E-W stud RB (and Husky Recruit) Tony Heard carried the rock 29 times for 228 yards, but was stopped for a one yard gain on the Meadowdale three yard line as time ran out.
Kamiak @ Snohomish
Prediction: Snohomish 33 Kamiak 14
Actual: Snohomish 33 Kamiak 14
Notes: Snohomish appears reloaded, somebody start the countdown until Vikings vs. Panthers, Halloween Night at Memorial Stadium. The Wesco title could hang in the balance.
Cascade @ Oak Harbor
Prediction: Oak Harbor 21 Cascade 20
Actual: Cascade 21 Oak Harbor 20
Notes: Sixth-ranked Oak Harbor suffers the rare home loss. New coach Jay Turner sinks to 0-1, vaults to the top of the Wesco Coaches Hot Seat list.
Lake Stevens @ Mariner
Prediction: Lake Stevens 37 Mariner 17
Actual: Lake Stevens 36 Mariner 34
Notes: What can you say? Is it too early to call it the game of the year? QB Nick Baker told me on the sidelines that falling behind 21-0 to the Marauders was just a nerve-racking as entering a playoff game as a Sophomore. The steady Senior didn't play his best, but still ended up with three TD's and a 70 percent completion ratio. What does that say about this guy's talent???
