LAKE STEVENS - Two additional Lake Stevens women have come forward with stories about Julian Willis, the former Kamiak HS coach and substitute currently engulfed in a swirl of criminal allegations.
Willis was fired by the Mukilteo School District last month, on the same day J425 published an investigation detailing allegations of sex crimes on campus and an ongoing Mukilteo police investigation into Willis’ reported sexual misconduct with a minor student.

Willis Becomes a Lake Stevens Problem
J425 published a story Monday detailing a local 16-year-old girl’s run in at a local grocery store with a man she recognized as Willis from our earlier reporting.
The girl, whom we are not naming for safety reasons, said Willis bumped into her and followed her around the store and across the street, attempting to engage her in conversation multiple times and commenting on her appearance.

Lake Stevens-related Willis anecdotes continue to come in to J425
Since Sunday, we’ve heard from another local minor teenager whom we aren’t naming as we work to report out her story. She was in contact with Willis through her job and describes a situation in which she found herself with Willis in what amounts to a basement hallway.
Willis reportedly looked her up and down and began commenting on the then 16-year-old’s appearance. She said he moved to position himself in the center of the staircase that led up to the main floor — blocking the direction she was going. Ultimately she said a gut feeling made her drop all pretense of normality and sprint away from Willis.
We’re also aware of some anecdotes popping up on private Facebook groups, including one comprised of local moms - screengrab below.
J425 confirmed that Willis maintains a West Lake Stevens address. Willis, as of June 21, 2023 hasn’t been arrested or charged for any of the incidents detailed in our reporting.
Mukilteo Police say they believe Willis committed multiple felony sex crimes involving a minor in a probable cause document signed by a detective, judge and prosecutor in April. Mukilteo School District fired Willis after looking into the matter.
And J425 reported that Willis has a record that includes Domestic Violence, Assault, Harassment, Theft and DUI. Further, we reported that Willis worked with courts to regain his right to carry a firearm in October of 2022.
We’ve reached out to the detective running the Mukilteo investigation into Willis, asking on behalf of Lake Stevens residents if this situation — an armed man with a rapidly deteriorating personal life (Willis told the Lake Stevens girl Sunday that he was divorced and that he “used to be a dad”) and the unappealing prospect of serving multiple felony sex crimes with a pedo jacket — is just something that we’re supposed to navigate on our own.
We received no response.
