Live: Woodinville at Lake Stevens 6 pm
Round of 16 Playoff Action from Lake Stevens High School Stadium
Two numbers: 47.3 and 24.1. These represent the averaging offensive output of Lake Stevens and Woodinville, respectively. Tom Tri’s 9-1 Vikings, ranked second in the state, open WIAA State Playoff action tonight, welcoming 15-seeded Woodinville (6-3) to Lake Stevens. The Vikings, who lead the state in points scored, are playing as well as ever, starters taking the second half off last week after trouncing another SPSL “playoff” team 54-0 in just two quarters.
Tonight is a different story. Woodinville is legit. The 6-3 qualifiers are seeded because they beat 8-1 Decatur at Decatur last week. They’ve played touch competition all year.
But none of that should matter. Because you’re going to have to score 40 points to beat the Vikings. And that seems highly unlikely against Eric Dinwiddie’s surging defense, which has taken off since adding Esteban Sedano to a rush edge position, bookending likely All State candidate Gage Solomon. The two ends have accounted for 13 sacks between them and over 40 tackles for a aloss. So if anything, it’s more likely that Woodinville is held to single digits than they are to break 20. So it seems that an upset is extremely unlikely.
We like the Vikings 48-13. You can watch the action live on the LSHS youtube channel and I believe KRKO is broadcasting. J425 will be there live as always. We will be covering the event from the sidelines and posting to X and Instagram. You can follow us at each here:
