Sen. Steve Hobbs (D-Lake Stevens) has requested state capital funding assistance in the scheduled renovations of Lake Stevens High School Stadium, Purple and Gold Pigskin has learned.
The renovations, scheduled to begin after the 2009 season, will add significant seating and will overhaul the press box. The scheduled renovations will complete the obligations guaranteed by the district after the passage of a 2005 bond that included over $3 million in funding for new FieldTurf and limited renovations.
Earlier in the month, the LSSD Board of Directors approved new architectural designs relating to a multi-phased additional renovation that would add locker rooms beneath the covered seating.
It is important to note that the District doesn't currently have the funding to complete the multi-phased improvements, so this is where fundraising through other sources could be key.
The State Senate Capital Budget for 2009-2011 is scheduled to be released next Wednesday or Thursday. We'll keep you posted.
