Lake Stevens Senator Steve Hobbs on shortlist for Sec State job
The powerful Chair of the Senate Transportation Committee may be asked to serve at State level
According to political media site Crosscut, Sen. Steve Hobbs (D-Lake Stevens) is on the shortlist to replace outgoing Secretary of State Kim Wyman, a Republican.
Wyman, the only currently elected Republican to hold statewide office in Washington, is stepping down effective Nov. 19 for family reasons. She’s accepted another job in DC.
As a result, Governor Jay Inslee will appoint a placeholder to serve until a special election can be held in November of 2022.
