LAKE STEVENS — A Lake Stevens man is expected to recover after he was shot by car prowlers caught breaking into his truck Saturday night.
The man noticed three individuals smashing the window of his parked truck, interrupted them and gave chase.
That’s when one of the would-be car thieves turned, fired and struck the man in the leg.
“An adult male observed three unknown subjects smashing the window of his parked truck and subsequently chased after them. One of the subjects shot the truck owner while running to their getaway car,” said a spokesperson for the Lake Stevens Police Department. Full press release included at the bottom of the post.
The shooting occurred at 10:35 pm, a few blocks south of Tom Thumb Grocery, at the 2500 block of 103rd Ave SE in Lake Stevens.
After shooting their pursuer, the criminals reportedly made their getaway in a white sedan.
Police say the victim sustained a gunshot wound to his upper leg and was transported to an area hospital.
A later post from Snohomish Regional Fire Rescue indicated that the victim was expected to recover.
LSPD confirms that the investigation is ongoing and the information available is limited to the fact that three suspects fled in a white vehicle — possible a BMW — and are yet to be arrested.
