Jayshon Limar & David Brown Star in Vikings’ 41-0 Playoff Win Over Woodinville
Lake Stevens (10-1) hosts Kennedy Catholic (10-1) Friday 7pm in rematch of ‘22 title game….Game story, box score + full season stats.

LAKE STEVENS — Jayshon Limar and David Brown were the headliner stars of Lake Stevens' 41-0 State Playoffs packed-house home-field win over Woodinville last Saturday night.
But the under-heralded Viking offensive and defensive lines were no less instrumental in keeping Lake's championship aspirations alive, in a game which was scoreless until 6:42 of the second quarter.
Falcon quarterback Levi Grothen tried to compensate for his team's failed ground attack by launching 15 throws in the first half but Viking pressure combined with the treacherous weather conditions rendered that effort fruitless -- Grothen completed just three passes in the first half for 26 yards
Cold, saturating rain and swirling winds greeted the teams almost as soon as the game began, and they proved to be a factor at the outset.
In the meantime the Viking defensive line thwarted the Falcons' previously potent rushing attack, holding it to a mere 24 net yards in the first half and 31 yards for the entire game.
Falcon quarterback Levi Grothen tried to compensate for his team's failed ground attack by launching 15 throws in the first half but Viking pressure combined with the treacherous weather conditions rendered that effort fruitless -- Grothen completed just three passes in the first half for 26 yards, while David Brown's first of two interceptions completely turned the game around in the second quarter when Woodinville was threatening to take the lead, as he snared the ball on the Viking two, returning it to the LS 38.
On Lake's first play from there Jayshon Limar burst up the middle for a 57-yard gain to the Falcon five, followed by Brown's five-yard TD toss from Kolton Matson. Lucas Mooring's PAT kick put Lake ahead to stay, 7-0.
Stymied by the weather and by 75 yards in penalties up to that point (Matson was five of 13 in the first half for 51 yards, plus an interception), Lake unleashed Limar on the seemingly unsuspecting Falcons for a stunning 245-yard, 18-carry rushing performance which included two touchdowns.
Limar had been held under wraps by the Viking coaching staff in Lake's 54-0 Playoff win over Olympia the week before, but on this evening he was unstoppable, crashing by and through would-be Falcon tacklers.
As for Brown, his All-State caliber season performance continues in full throttle, as he not only caught two touchdowns from Matson (16 for the season so far) he contributed a 25-yard Interception return for touchdown which put the game totally out of reach in the third quarter, bringing his season TD total to 18 (108 points!).
Demonstrating his versatility, Brown also added a 47-yard punt return and three tackles on defense, one of which was a toe-tripping save of a deep Grothen completion, preventing what would have been a 79-yard Falcon TD.
Stats confirm once again Lake's total domination of its Playoff games thus far.
Talha Rai added 92 yards in 16 carries to Lake's massive 342 rushing yards, lugging the ball 67 yards in 11 carries on the Vikings' final touchdown drive.
Matson finished 8/16 for 106 yards, two touchdowns and one interception.
Grothen's total was 165 yards but his 10 for 32 (two interceptions) performance fell short of making a dent in Lake's overwhelming superiority.
Keagan Howard led Lake in tackles with 11, pushing his season total to a team-high 106.
Mason Turner follows with 95 and Gage Solomon with 85 (the latter two had nine tackles each vs. Woodinville).
Solomon and Esteban Sedano shared a quarterback sack. Solomon now has nine sacks for the season, Sedano five.
