Commentary: Limar and Lake Deliver Message to Doubters
Instant classic in Lake Stevens as the Notre Dame-committed star makes a statement in front of a packed house and throngs of media
THE LEDE: LAKE STEVENS WINS 37-28.
In front of a standing-room-only home opener crowd, 4A’s top team Lake Stevens bested 3A’s number one Bellevue in a hotly-contested battle of blue-blood programs.
As a balmy late summer afternoon darkened into a smoky sunset, two top ranked programs coming off disappointing season-opening defeats played a tightly-matched, competitive and hard-hitting contest marked by the give and take of body blows and counter punches.
Before the dusty orange skies bled into a dark purple, Lake’s David Brown picked off Bellevue in the endzone, stepping in front of their pre season All American tight end. From there, the Vikings’ four-star Notre Dame committed RB Jayden Limar let it be known that he intended to use this game as a podium from which he intended to make a statement.
And 46 minutes of game time later, Limar completed his statement with a game-clinching 1 yard touchdown, before exploding into an emotional supernova of celebration.
More on that in our highlight video later this weekend and in Mike Anderton’s game recap Sunday.
We’ve also got post game interviews with Coach Tom Tri and Jayden Limar and — if I recover my lost Nikon — lots of photos and video to share.
For now, we’ll leave you with a couple key statistics and video highlights of the Viking touchdowns.
I’ll link the clip of Macray Flanders’ 42 yard FG as well — (it’s posted as a Short which I can’t embed. )
