GBB: Lake Stevens Closes Out Perfect Wesco Campaign
Keira Isabelle Tupua’s 28 extends the Viks’ winning streak to a dozen
HENRY M. JACKSON HIGH SCHOOL, EVERETT — Lake Stevens Vikings Girls Basketball completed a perfect Wesco campaign and extended their winning streak to 12 as they closed out the Jackson Timberwolves 56-43 on the road Monday.
The win sets the Viks up for a top two seed in the upcoming playoffs and continues Lake’s climb up the power rankings.
The Viks, with second leading scorer Noelani Tupua in street clothes, leaned heavily on senior guard and leading scorer Keira Isabelle Tupua, who led all scorers with 28 points while helping to fuel a dominant Lake defense. Sophomore guard Autumn Swobody chipped in with 8.
Tupua dominated the game on both ends with smothering ball pressure on defense and a variety of high percentage shots on offense: her 28 points were compiled with just one 3pt FG.
Tupua was 5-7 at the line.
Freshman guard Camille Phaysih led the way for Jackson with 11; junior forward Makena Divine also hit double digits with ten.
Lake Stevens has reeled off a dozen straight wins after opening the season 4-2.
They head into the District 1 WesKing playoffs with the top seed from Wesco after claiming the league crown last week.
The Viks stand at 16-2, ranked 10th in WIAA RPI and 13th by MaxPreps.
The Viks are next in action on February 17, J425 will update playoff seeding and schedule a few days prior to tipoff.
