UPDATE: Lake Stevens Focuses on Ground Attack, Lynden Scores 2x on Vikings, holds Lake off.
The 4A State Champion Lake Stevens Vikings and two-time returning 2A title holding Lynden Lions will square off for 24 full speed plays today in the four team round-robin. Coverage here begins at noon

UPDATE 2:19 — Lynden scored on the second and 12th plays and the Vikings were held out of the endzone as a 30 yard Talha Rai run on the Lake final play ended up inches short.
Rai, a rising senior running back, was the dominant player for Lake today with TDs of 18 and 22 plus the 30 yard run against Lynden. Lake was without starting RB Jayshon Limar & backup Esteban Sedano.
Kolton Matson had his moments including a beautiful scramble and 18 yard strike to David Brown before following up with a TD pass to Brown. Brown — who added an interception to end NV’s offensive period — was excellent today.
Viking Captain Gabe Kylany was momentarily floored by an illegal hit on a deep crossing pattern across the middle. He got up under his own power but it wasn’t a surprise that Coach Tri called ten straight runs against Lynden — he wasn’t at all concerned on “winning” the scrimmage and it was reflected in healthy substitutions and a wide variety of players seeing time against the 2x 2A champs. We will have highlights from Lake and Lynden later.
UPDATE 12:32 — Live from Arlington as Lake Stevens and Arlington with a touchdown each as the first scrimmage period ends.
