Kevin,
You missed what would have been the greatest game ever, if we won. I'm sure you heard 50-49 in OT as we scored first, and then had Jackson against the ropes on 4th and goal from the 10. They scored, called a timeout, and went for 2 and won the game.
Here's a couple of details from my perspective as a fb coach in LS.
We started the game in the Power I (3 RB's with baker UNDER CENTER) with youngblood as our HB running the ball.
We were even building an offensive house (huddle) in our first series and a few times during the game! Can you imagine that? They used the house and Power I mostly on 3rd and short after the first series.
I think that we had an illegal motion that the refs missed while we were running the Power I on 4th and short with 40 seconds left. LS calls it "quick" motion as we lineup in Power I Left and quick motion the FB to power I right, but I think it was illegal motion because the TE was shifting from the left to right side at the same time as the fullback. I think the refs missed the call. On the play, Youngblood got the 1st, then fumbled and Jackson recovered forcing OT. I was hoping to see Granston win the game with a field goal (one of my former players/students). He barely missed a 35 yarder earlier in the game, which looked good from our angle. When Youngblood fumbled, there was 40 seconlds left in the game, the score was 42-42 and we were on Jackson's 28 yard line.
Jackson had several BIG plays by Riley Carr and Taylor Cox. However, Baker was of course incredible as well.
What a game!
Let me know if you have any questions about the game, it was a classic, for sure!
