Okay, real quick. We will be doing live coverage of the game at the Viking Gameday blog (see link on sidebar, or follow this link), and via Twitter @wesco4a. As always, twitter will let you know if I post anything anywhere. Moving forward, I think it will help organize our coverage if we dedicate one section to game day coverage (with a template designed for media/photo display). The Vikes take on 2-0 (Wesco record) Monroe tonight with league supremacy on the line. The Vikings are heavy favorites, but can't afford to let of the pedal. Just one loss would make last week's inspiring road win at Arlington obsolete. I simply don't see the Vikes letting up. Look for the Purple and Gold to win going away, let's say 48-12. Record Watch Thought I'd take a look at where things stand with regard to career and season records, specifically with Jake Nelson. Through five weeks, Nelson is 86/125 passing for 1145 yards 69% completion, 10 TD (2 int). He also has 329 yards rushing with another 10 TDs on the ground. Assuming the Vikes play just 10 games (they'll play more), Jake is going to have a tough time besting the season passing yards and TDs marks (2785, 30TD) set by Nick Baker in 2008. However, Nelson is set to smash the school single season TD record - with 20 total TDs through five weeks, Nelson is on pace for more than 40 TDs, and Nick's old record is 34. Jake will also easily pass the single season total yards mark of 3155, should his current rushing numbers hold up. Nelson is also completing passes at a silly 69% clip this year, the single season best is 65%. Career: Baker 309/501 4192 yards 42 TD 18 INT (61.6%) Nelson 254/429 3343 yards 29 TD 13 INT (59%) So, Nelson is 850 yards short of the career mark, and 55 completions behind as well. So, somewhere in week eight/week nine, Jake should slide past Nick into first place in the Viking record book.
