Lake Stevens — According to charging documents obtained by The Journal 425, prosecutors will detail a series of sex crimes they allege Lake Stevens teacher Mark Hein committed against a minor victim November 4, 2021 on the Lake Stevens High School campus.
J425 is the first to confirm that Hein’s sexual abuse of minors took place on the Lake Stevens High School campus. Similarly, J425 can exclusively confirm that underage Viking students are among Hein’s victims.
Hein, 55, is the longtime Lake Stevens teacher, coach, Young Life leader and self-help author arrested Wednesday and booked on six charges of sex crimes against minors.
According to a Lake Stevens School District release, Hein was placed on paid administrative leave last August as a result of misconduct investigations.
Hein remains on paid leave, collecting annual compensation of $143,000.
When Hein is arraigned Tuesday morning, prosecutors will state that Hein sexually assaulted a minor student on the LSHS campus at 5:00 pm on Thursday, Nov. 4, 2021.
The Nov. 4 crimes charged against Hein include Sexual Misconduct with a minor, Assault – Fourth degree with a Sexual Motivation modifier, and Immoral Communication with a Minor.
