Quarterback Blake Moser, a junior, was named theWashington State Football Coaches Association First Team All State Quarterback for 4A after the signal-caller wrapped a stellar season leading the Lake Stevens attack.
Moser went from a relative unknown (in football) outside of Lake Stevens… to a two-time All State selection and All Area Player of the Year selection — after an electric campaign leading state runner-up Lake Stevens.
“The most dynamite player I’ve seen in my 28-year career.”
- Sumner Head Coach Keith Ross said Moser was
Moser passed for 2,612 yards at 67%, throwing 39 TDs against just 6 interceptions and adding 16 rushing touchdowns and 850 yards on the ground at over 12 yards per carry.
Moser showcased an ability to take it to another level in key moments, from his initial start in the season’s opener, when he threw a game-winning touchdown to Seth Price as time ran out to beat defending champion Sumner 31-28 as time ran out; to the last two games of the season at the business end of the playoff schedule, in which Moser increasingly took matters into his own hands to stunning effect against the state’s stiffest competition.
Moser was especially “dynamite” on the ground, showing off straight line speed in the 4.4s and breathtaking agility, creativity and ability to change direction at high speed.
The junior standout rushed 27 times for 281 yards and 6 TDs combined in the State semifinals and 4A finals. He accounted for all five Lake Stevens TDs in the Vikings’ 41-35 OT loss to Sumner in the final, after which Sumner head coach Keith Ross said Moser was “the most dynamite player I’ve seen in my 28-year career.”
The two sport star (Perfect Game underclass 100 as a sophomore, batted .377 and hit 94.6 mph on the mound in WIAA playoffs) has recently said he’s open to pursuing football, baseball or both at the next level.
