I received the following email from Bill Richardson, father to Kalena and Sage Richardson. Kelena is a junior and starts at center. Sage is a sophomore, and travels with the team as a backup QB. The Richardson brothers transferred in from area power Archbishop Murphy shortly before the season, and I was curious as to there story.
Anyway, here's the email:
Hey Kevin, like your Purple & Gold Pigskin, very entertaining and very well done.
My boys were mentioned on the Thursday
night update with Bo Dickinson. Kalena & Sage
Richardson: Kalena is his Hawaiian name, meaning "talent", his first name is Skye. Sage goes by his first name, his Hawaiian name is Kaimohala, meaning, "wide open sea". Kalena is pronounced Kah-leh-na Kaimohala is pronounced Ka-eye-mo-ha-la Just a little Hawaiian culture 101.
We are originally from Kailua, Oahu. Moved here in 1999, been living in Lake Stevens for approximately 6 years. Both boys played LSJAA football for the Lake Stevens Vikings (coaches Jeff Pahukoa and Tom Nelson), both boys played for LSMS, then Kalena played his Freshman and Sophomore year for Terry Ennis at Murphy. Sage played his Freshman year at Murphy and both transferred to Lake Stevens ending of last year. Thanks for all you do for the Lake Stevens Vikings.
Bill Richardson
An interesting story, no doubt - but what really blew me away is the fact that I too am from Kailua, HI. I was born in Honolulu and raised in Kailua, where my dad grew up and most of my cousins still live. What an amazingly small world!
Thanks to Bill for the update, and a hearty Viking welcome to the two new additions from Archbishop.
