In the big news of the night, the Wesco North #3 squad will play KingCo Champion Bothell, as Bothell knocked off the state's top ranked team Skyline 25-20 at Pop Keeney Stadium Thursday night.
Meanwhile, the Vikes ended practice a little early and congregated for a team dinner. Thanks to the Frost family for hosting and inviting the extended Viking family. The event was catered by Ixtapa and entertainment was provided by a group of Viking players and four cheerleaders who demonstrated some sort of Tongan war dance.
I was especially happy to meet parents of many of our Viking players at the event, including Ross Jones' mom, and Garek Stuart's mom. It was also good to see Arvid's mom and Preslar's dad.
I enjoyed speaking with all of the Frost family - I am working on an extended feature for the Journal, and it is really starting to flesh out. I can't wait to put pen to paper.
In researching the Frost story, I spoke with a couple former Vikings: Bo Dickinson and Nick Baker. Dickinson is attending the University of Washington and living in the Lake Stevens area. Baker, on scholarship at Montana Tech, is sidelined for the rest of his redshirt season after emergency appendix surgery.
Baker was looking forward to this weekend in Butte, as he is hosting to former Jackson Timberwolves and prospective teammates: RB Taylor Cox and WR Jordan Kellington (I know, the names sound like two pretty hot girls, but no, they are in fact bad ass football players). Hopefully the two T-Wolves can reunite with a fellow Wesco competitor to assert dominance in Montana.
Finally, another reminder to arrive early tomorrow. Heavy rain is forecast for tomorrow night an covered seating will be at a premium. Tune in tomorrow late morning for our pick and preview.
